SPATIAL COMPLEXITY OF A PREDATOR-PREY MODEL WITH BOTH NOISE AND DIFFUSION

  • Abstract:
In this paper, we present a predator-prey model with Holling II functional response, including noise and diffusion. The model with diffusion only has target wave dynamics in the two-dimensional space. However, the waves are destroyed when noise is introduced. Furthermore, the spatially extended system with noise exhibits chaotic phenomena. These results may explain some of the findings in real ecosystems.
