Abstract:Thecombinationof solutionself-assembly,whichenablesprimarymorphologicalcontrol,andsolidself-assembly,whichenablesthecreationof novelproperties,canleadto theformationof newfunctionalmaterialsthatcannotbe obtainedusingeithertechniquealone.Herein,we reporta cooperativesolution/solidself-assemblystrategyto fabricatenoveltwo-dimensional(2D)platelets.Precursor2Dplateletswithpreor-ganizedpackingstructure,shape,andsizeare formedvia the livingself-assemblyof a donor−acceptorfluorophoreandvolatilecoformer(i.e.,propanol)in solutionphase.Afterhigh-temperatureannealing,propanolis releasedfromtheprecursorplatelets,andnewcontinuousintermolecularhydrogenbondsare formed.Thenew2Dplateletsformedretainthecontrollablemorphologiesoriginallydefinedby the solutionphaselivingself-assemblybut exhibitremarkableheat-resistantluminescenceup to 200°C andhightwo-photonabsorptioncrosssections(i.e.,>19,000GMat 760nm laserexcitation).
