Research Projects

Dr. Nan Qi, PhD in Applied Mathematics, has long been engaged in pioneering research on interdisciplinary problems, including finite element numerical computation, mathematical modelling of biological soft tissues, and fluid-structure interaction simulations in cardiovascular systems. To date, she has published over 20 papers in prestigious academic journals such as Journal of the Mechanical Behaviour of Biomedical Materials and Communications in Computational Physics. She has delivered more than ten presentations at major international conferences.

Dr. Qi has independently led one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for young scholars, two under the Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and one supported by a central university research grant. Additionally, Qinan has contributed to several key national-level projects and was selected for Shandong University's "Future Scholar Plan" for young academics in 2020.

Dr Qi's achievements include being awarded the EPSRC full scholarship (typically reserved for EU students), the Jim Gatheral Prize, a nomination for the Jack Award, the National Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Chinese Students Abroad, the National Scholarship, the Shaanxi Province Outstanding Graduate Award, and the Baosteel Scholarship, among others.

Students interested in interdisciplinary research combining numerical computation and clinical medicine are welcome to join the research group!
