On November 19, 2020, Professor Christoph Vogel was invited by Professor Dalei Wu to give an online lecture entitled “The Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor as a Target in Breast Cancer and More”. The moderator of the lecture is Professor Dalei Wu.
Professor Christoph Vogel introduced nuclear receptor proteins based on the protein structure and physiological functions of the aromatic hydrocarbon receptor AhR, and provided detailed answers and discussions on questions from the members of the research group.
Professor Christoph Vogel works at the University of California, Davis. His research group mainly studies the functions of exogenous drug receptors and inflammatory signal transduction to understand the molecular mechanisms by which environmental toxins promote chronic inflammatory diseases. One research direction of his group is the physiological role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), a receptor protein commonly found in environmental and dietary components. They found that the activation of AhR by toxic ligands and the resulting disruption of TLR and NF-kB signaling pathways are the origins of immune response dysregulation, ultimately leading to catastrophic consequences of immune disorders.
