Focusing on methodologies in structural biology, the report provided an in-depth exploration of the field. Professor Chengpeng Fan comprehensively elaborated on the fundamental principles of protein crystallization and technical approaches for protein structure resolution, enhancing attendees' understanding of the mechanisms involved. He further introduced advanced techniques such as phase acquisition through X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, highlighting cutting-edge developments in the discipline.

Following a concise overview of protein tertiary structure classification, Professor Fan drew from his extensive research experience to dissect over twenty complex case studies. Through vivid explanations and practical examples, he illustrated common challenges in scientific research and shared strategic solutions. Additionally, he synthesized current bottlenecks in structural resolution, sparking critical reflection among attendees and offering valuable insights for their future investigations.
