He has published more than 80 articles, some of which were reported by New Scientist (UK), China Science Daily, and China Social Science Daily. Prof. Zhang has published 6 first-authored books in known academic publishers: Mathematical and Physical Fundamentals of Climate Change (Elsevier, 2015 & 2018), Environmental Data Analysis: Methods and Applications (Second Edition, DeGruyter, 2023),Multivariate Time Series Analysis in Climate and Environmental Research (Springer, 2018), Patterns and Mechanisms of Climate, Paleoclimate and Paleoenvironmental Changes from Low-Latitude Regions (Springer, 2019), Big Data Mining for Climate Change (Elsevier, 2020), Frame Theory in Data Science (Springer, 2024). The total funding for these research projects is over 100 Million RMB (=16 Million US Dollars) Prof. Zhang has won Springer Certificate of Appreciation on Outstanding Performance and Scientific Contribution to the AJGS, PLoS ONE Long Service Award, Young Scientist's Travel Award of the EGU, Chinese Government Award for outstanding students abroad. Prof. Zhang has served as 1st Track Chair of Annual Meeting of Mediterranean Geoscience Union, an education committee member of International Coral Reef Society, a reviewer for United Nations' IPCC report, a reviewer for United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), a reviewer for Swiss National Science Foundation, a reviewer for National Natural Science Award of China, and a review committee member for Ministry of Environmental Protection's Climate Change Program.
