Biography
Dr. Chang Liu is a Professor and Ph.D. supervisor, and the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, Taishan Young Scholar, Shandong Provincial Excellent Young Scientist, and Qilu Young Scholar. She serves as a committee member of the Microbiome Division of the Chinese Society for Microbiology, the Human Microecology Committee of the Chinese Physiological Society, and the Gut Microbiota Subcommittee of the Biophysical Society of China.
Dr. Liu received her Ph.D. from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and has conducted research at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shandong University. Her research focuses on gut microbiome culturomics, the discovery of novel functional microbes, and the mechanistic understanding of host–microbe interactions. She has established extensive gut microbial strain libraries from humans and model animals, and through integrated culture-based and in vivo studies, has revealed functional phenotypes and molecular mechanisms by which gut symbionts influence host metabolism. She is also actively engaged in the development of next-generation microbiota-based therapeutics for metabolic disorders.
To date, Dr. Liu has published over 20 research articles as first or corresponding author (including co-authored works) in leading journals such as Nature Microbiology, Nature Metabolism, Nature Communications, and Microbiome, with more than 1,700 citations and an H-index of 22.
