Engaged in research on intelligent monitoring and detection of infrastructure, as well as prevention and control of permeable pavement blockage. Research results have been applied to sponge city construction. 

Principal investigator of multiple fund projects including the National Natural Science Foundation, Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Shandong Provincial Key Research and Development Project, Ministry of Education's Research Fund for Returned Overseas Scholars, and China Postdoctoral Fund. 

Published over 30 SCI/EI papers as first author or corresponding author; applied for more than 80 patents, with over 50 authorized; edited 9 provincial engineering construction standards, 2 group standards, and 4 provincial construction methods; received one second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, three first prizes and four second prizes of provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards.
