Xingyu Zhang was born in Shandong Province, P. R. China in 1963. He got his B.S. degree in Physics in 1983 and M.S. degree in Optics in 1986 from Nankai University, and Doctoral degree in Optical Engineering in 2001 from Shandong University. Since 1986, he has been with the School of Information Science and Engineering of Shandong University, successively as an Assistant Lecturer (1986-1988), a Lecturer (1988-1996), an Associate Professor (1996-1999), and a Professor (1999-now). He also serves as the Director of Laser Society of Shandong Province and the Director of Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Laser Technology and Application. His research interests include Solid-state lasers, Frequency conversion, THz generation by nonlinear process, Interaction between powerful pulses and matter, Optoelectronic detection.
