Junjie Zhang is a professor of the Institute of Crystal Materials at Shandong University. He received his B.E. in 2008 and his Ph.D. in 2013 from Shandong University for single crystal growth, structure, properties and nonlinear optical conversion of molybdate tellurium oxides. From 2013-2017, he was a postdoctoral appointee at Argonne National Laboratory’s Materials Science Division, where his research involved high-pressure floating zone growth of strongly correlated oxides including cobaltites and nickelates. He moved to Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Scattering and Thermophysics group as a postdoctoral reserach associate in 2017, where he mainly worked on high entropy oxides using neutron and x-ray scattering. Appointed to a professor in 2019, his current research emphasizes strategic synthesis, crystal growth, and structural studies of advanced functional mateirals.
Zhang is author or co-author of 37 peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals, including first-author/corresponding-author Nature Physics, Physical Review Letters, PNAS, and Chemistry of Materials. He is a reviewer for journals such as JACS, Phys. Rev. Lett., Cryst. Growth Des, CrystEngComm and J. Mater. Chem. C. He was the chair for the Manganites and Cobaltites session during the 2016 APS March Meeting. He is a member of the American Physical Society, the American Physical Society, and Neutron Scattering Society of America.
