Professor Du Lin is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at Shandong University, recognised as a leading national talent in scientific and technological innovation, and a young high-level overseas talent by the State. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and currently serves as the Dean of the School of Environmental Science at Shandong University. He is also the Director of the Key Laboratory of Air Pollution Prevention and Control in Coastal Cities, Qingdao, a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC) programme, a director and deputy secretary-general of the Law and Politics Branch of the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, and the Vice Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Federation at Shandong University. To date, Professor Du has published 177 SCI academic papers, with 120 as first or corresponding author, 11 on journal covers, and holds 17 granted or pending invention patents, 4 utility model patents, and 2 registered software copyrights. He has led projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, including key research and development programmes, major research projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, and several projects under the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Sino-French Young Scientist Exchange Programme, as well as the Shandong Provincial Excellent Young Scholar and Key R&D Programme. In 2018, he was selected as an Emerging Scientist in Environmental Science by the Royal Society of Chemistry. He received the Zijing Quanxing Young Scholar Award in 2021 and has been awarded Shandong University’s Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Supervisor Award for three consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023), the Shandong Provincial Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Supervisor Award in 2023, and was named an Outstanding Research Supervisor in Shandong Province in 2023. He has also received the Industrial-Academic Research Cooperation Innovation Award from the China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology in 2020, the Invention Achievement Award from the China Invention Association in 2022, and the second place in the Qingdao regional team category of the Fifth China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in the new energy and energy-saving environmental protection sector. Professor Du has been honoured with the Special Allowance from the Qingdao Municipal Government, the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker Award from Jinan City, and several other titles such as the Support Plan for Urgently Needed Talent in the Western Economic Rise Belt and Key Areas of Poverty Alleviation in Shandong Province, and the Leading Talent in Industry of Weifang City. He serves as an Executive Member of the Volatile Organic Compounds Pollution Prevention Committee of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, a member of the Ozone Pollution Control Committee, and a member of the Atmospheric Environment Branch. He is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Safety and Environmental Sciences and the Guest Editor of the Journal of Atmospheric and Environmental Optics.
