Dr. Ren received her B.S. degree in chemistry from Shandong University in 2013 and her Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Peking University in 2018. Then, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is a Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Crystal Material, Institute of Novel Semiconductors, Shandong University. She has published multiple high-impact journal articles as the first or co-first author in Nature, Advanced Materials, and Energy & Environmental Science. She holds 7 authorized patents and has been invited to write 1 chapter in an English book and 3 chapters in Chinese books.

Her research interests focus on the controlled synthesis of low-dimensional materials, applications of 2D materials in modulating materials heterointerfaces, and the structural design and engineering of 2D superlattices for applications in spintronic, flexible electronic, and energy devices.
