Dr. Hao Wu is Professor and Department Chair at Department of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, School of Public Heatlh, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, China. He is also the Director at Food Safety Monitoring and Evaluation Engineering Technology Research Center of Shandong Province.
Dr. Wu acquired M.D. and Ph.D. at Jilin University, and received post-doctoral training at University of Louisville and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, USA. He is the P.I. for Spatial Nutrition Research Team, and also the P.I. for “Food as guardian for Health” Technology Innovation and Translation Platform at Shandong University School of Public Health.
He proposed a novel theory named Spatial Nutrition which aims to define the impact of spatial distribution of nutritional substances in the body on health/disease, and optimize their distribution macroscopically and microscopically for better outcomes. He has published over 30 articles as the first or corresponding author in top journals such as EMBO, Diabetologia, Free Radical Biology & Medicine, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Food Science and Human Wellness and Food & Function. He is an editorial board member for Nutrients, Antioxidants and Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition. His research is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and others.
He is the Vice President for the North American Chinese Society for Nutrition, a Standing Committee Member for the Basic Nutrition Branch, and Committee Member for the Special Nutrition Branch of the Chinese Nutrition Society. He is also the Vice President for the Shandong Nutrition Society.
