Research Focus
1. Alloy design and dealloying mechanisms: The techniques including (rapid) solidification, liquid-solid reaction, vapor-solid reaction, magnetron sputtering, and electro-deposition are used to fabricate alloy precursors. The dealloying mechanisms are investigated using operando techniques
2. Fabrication and structural modulation of nanoporous metallic materials: Based upon the technological routes of ‘shape control by processing’ and ‘microstructure control by corrosion’, functional nanoporous metallic materials will be fabricated by dealloying, and their compositions/micro
3. Energy storage: The group aims at probing the properties and applications of nanoporous metallic materials in secondary batteries like Li/Na/K ion batteries, Mg ion batteries, Li-air batteries, Zn-air batteries, etc. The energy storage mechanisms will be studied using operando XRD/Raman
4. Electrocatalysis: Nanoporous metallic materials with high intrinsic activities will be developed and applied in reactions like oxygen reduction reaction for fuel cells, hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions for water splitting, carbon oxide reduction reaction, nitrogen reduction reaction
